Bangkok Day 3 - Damnoen Floating Market & Chatuchak Market.

One thing that I liked so much about Bangkok is how easy going around the city is. The train system is not confusing and everywhere felt accessible. For our third day in Bangkok, we chose to visit two of the most famous markets in Thailand. The Damnoen Floating Market and Chatuchak Market.

These two are far from each other, but we though it would be the best thing to do since we are already dressed for a market visit.

So how do one get to Damnoen Floating Market. Get on to any train and just find your way to alight at Victory Monument Station. From there, you will already find the mini vans going to Damnoen Floating Market. Depending on traffic and stops, travel time is more or less 1.5 hours. Fare was 90Baht.

We stopped at a gasoline station for pee break and I got myself iced coffee! I love their iced coffee!

We finally reached the boat station. If you someone from what looks like an agency offers you a boat ride for 2 markets, just say no. The second market was not worth it.  ;/ We actually paid so much for this, learned a lesson not to say yes to all that's being offered. lol

Based on other DIY tours, you can get a deal for as low as 300Baht /person if you are in bigger groups. Since we were only two, it was already a given that we had to pay more

We only bought food and shot glass when we were there. Everything was just too expensive.

Of course I had to have my mango sticky rice here!

The padthai cooked by this woman at the floating market was the best that we've tried in Bangkok!

Like what I have mentioned, we unfortunately said yes to another 1000 Baht because the staff said the's a second market that we can go too. Bad decision to say yes because there wasn't much to see.  Just this:

And we go to feed these fishes.  Looking back, I still fee frustrated that we were scammed by this second market offer. :/

We left the floating market feeling frustrated. We were brought at this coffee shop to buy tickets back to Bangkok. We tried our best to shrug off the frustration and looked forward to exploring the biggest market in BKK, Chatuchak Market.

Chatuchak Market

After more than an hour of mini bus ride from Damnoen Floating Market, we're back at BTS Victory Monument station. From there, we just rode the train and alighted at Mo Chit Station. It was the final station and we just went along with the large crowd because they obviously are going to Chatuchak as well.

We haven't even reached the Market Proper and there are already so many stalls on your way to Jatujak (as what the locals call it) It was actually just a short walk from the station, but it took us some time to get there because we were checking out stalls.

Finally, here!

And of course, since it's the largest weekend market in Thailand and one of the largest in the world, there's sooooo much to see. A lot of interesting items I must say. :D These are soaps, btw.  lol

So many food choices!!! We were too hungry and we forgot to take photos before eating what we ordered!

I loved their fresh fruit juices. I was so addicted to their orange juice and I bought pineapples every chance I get.

Yum-o!

Look for me!

This Spanish (I assume he is!) chef was so fun to watch! We was dancing and smiling non stop while cooking this large pan of paella.

We did not actually buy much there. Mostly just souvenir, we were just there to experience the market. We actually ate more than we shopped! This place is definitely one of the must visits when in Bangkok. Whether or not you intend to shop, it's going to be a great experience going. Lots of interesting things and people to see!
